Starfires continue to win

BERNE — Through seven games, the South Adams High School girls basketball team is two-thirds of the way to its win total from all of last year.
And it has as many wins as the previous three years combined.
South Adams saw all seven players on its roster contribute points, including three in double figures, as the Starfires dominated Winchester Tuesday 56-32.
It was the first victory for the Stars over the Golden Falcons since the 1998-99 season.
Alyssa Bluhm and Dzejna Ahmetovic each scored 16 points for South Adams, whhich improved to 6-1 overall and 1-1 in the Allen County Athletic Conference.
Kenzie Jennings netted 11 points for the Stars, who had led 13-7 after the first quarter and extended their lead to 28-11 after two.
Sydney Willis scored six points, and Sharon Balsiger chipped in three.

Eagles take two
GASTON — The West Jay Middle School seventh and eighth grade boys basketball teams picked up road wins Tuesday against the Wes-Del Warriors.
The eighth grade Eagles improved to 3-3 on the season with a 29-16 win over the Warriors, while the West Jay seventh graders pushed their record to 5-1, defeating Wes-Del 22-15.
Gabe Faulkner scored 12 points, grabbed five rebounds, tallied seven steals and notched three blocks for the eighth grade Eagles. Nick Raines and Wyatt Geesaman each added five points.

For the seventh grade Eagles, Cole Stigleman had a team-high eight points, and Holton Hill added seven. Max Moser contributed four points for West Jay, and Garrett Rodgers added three.

Chiefs, Warriors split
The East Jay seventh grade boys basketball team returned to .500 with a 40-36 win over the West Side Warriors Tuesday. The eighth grade Eagles fell 42-28.
Ryan Schlechty and Matthew Franks each scored 10 points for the seventh grade Eagles, who got seven points from Michael Schlechty and Parker Grimes had five.
Elijah Corwin chipped in three points, and Korbin Auker and Brandon McIntire scored two points apiece.
For the East Jay seventh graders (0-4), Seth Fugiett and Grant Keihn both scored nine points. Andrew Fields added six.

Fort tops West Side
UNION CITY — The Fort Recovery seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams defeated host West Side on Monday.
The Fort Recovery eighth graders defeated West Side 47-39, and the seventh graders edged the host Warriors 16-14.
Three players scored in double figures for the Fort Recovery eighth graders, with Carley Stone scoring a team-high 14 points. Grace Thien added 13 points, and Kiah Wendel had 10.
For the seventh grade Indians, Aleigha Jenkins tallied eight points, and Faith Kahlig added six. Elise Gehle chipped in two points for the Tribe.[[In-content Ad]]
