Starfires lose to Adams Central

BERNE - The South Adams baseball team managed just three hits Thursday in a 7-1 loss to the visiting Adams Central Flying Jets.
The Starfires fell behind 3-0 before scoring their only run in the fifth inning. Adams Central added two runs each in the sixth and seventh innings for the final margin.
Dustin Wanner took the loss, giving up five runs on seven hits and two walks in 5 1/3 innings. He struck out two batters.
Jay softball blanked
Jay County's softball team slipped to 5-12 Thursday with a 4-0 loss to the visiting Anderson Indians.
Rachelle Jackson suffered the loss, although just one of the runs against her was earned. She struck out eight batters while allowing five hits and three walks.
Anderson scored two runs each in the fourth and sixth innings.
Selena McKibben finished 2-for-3 to lead the Patriots. Brittney Watson and Ranae Ray each added a single.[[In-content Ad]]
