Starfires split with AC (01/15/05)

Local Roundup

South Adams split a pair of junior high boys basketball games Friday with the seventh graders topping the Adams Central Jets 39-23. The eighth grade team suffered a 34-33 defeat.

The seventh grade game was tied at halftime. However, South Adams allowed just four points in the second half to pull away for the big victory.

Nick Teeter had a huge game for the Starfires, draining six 3-pointers as he finished with 25 points. Heath Moser was next on the team with nine points.

South Adams’ eighth graders led for much of the game, holding an eight-point advantage at the half and increasing that margin to 27-18 with just one period to play. However, the Jets answered with 16 fourth-quarter points to steal the one-point win.

Cody Meshberger paced the Starfires with 13 points, and Kyle DeArmond also reached double figures with 10. Chris Stutzman added five points.
