HARTFORD CITY -South Adams High School's girls golf team picked up a victory Thursday, topping the host Blackford Bruins 228-232.
Amber Melick paced the Starfires at Blackford Country Club with a 49 to earn match medalist honors. Alyssa Neuenschwander followed with a 56.
Grace Dobler shot 61, and Tricia Crider was one stroke back as she rounded out the team score at 62. Kara Lehman finished with a 69.
Spikers fall short
BERNE - The Starfire volleyball team pushed another Allen County Athletic Conference foe to the limit Thursday, but just missed its second straight victory as it dropped 25-23, 24-26, 25-16, 15-25, 15-9 loss the the Bluffton Tigers.
Andrea Moser powered South Adams in the defeat, finishing with team highs of four aces and a block. She was second on the squad in digs (22) and kills (11).
Karen Bollenbacher had 16 kills and a block, and Jacie Yoder totaled 37 assists while matching Moser's four aces. Maranda Potts came up with a team-best four digs.[[In-content Ad]]
