DEKALB — The South Adams High School boys swim team won every event Thursday as it dominated the DeKalb Barons 134-19. The girls team added a 90-80 victory.
Jacob Werst and Caleb Wurster paced the Starfire boys (9-4) with two wins apiece. Wurster took first place in the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 21.31 seconds and the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.23, and Werst won the 200 freestyle in 2:17.38 and the 100 butterfly in 1:10.88.
Erika Waugh was the lone double winner for the SAHS girls (11-4). She beat the field by more than a minute in the 500 freestyle in 5:40.33 and also won the 100 backstroke in 1:05.37.
Joel Schmidt took the boys 100 backstroke in 1:09.85, Cory Sank won the 500 freestyle in 5:58.77 and Cole Farlow was first in the 100 freestyle at 56.83.
Joining Waugh in posting victories for the girls team were Abbie Campbell with a time of 29.64 in the 50 freestyle and Alex Fox at 1:18.28 in the 100 butterfly.

’Busco tops girls

BERNE  — South Adams’ girls basketball team dropped its 15th straight game Thursday, falling 41-18 to the Churubusco Eagles.
Katrina Hawkins scored eight points to lead the Starfires (1-15), who trailed by just five at halftime before being outscored 15-0 in the third quarter. Alyssa Bluhm added six points.
Heath Monk paced Churubusco with 10 points, and Haleigh Gross, Kasey Gibson and Nichole Wormcastle each chipped in six.

JH wrestlers fall
MONROE — The South Adams Junior High wrestling team fell 44-34 Thursday to host Adams Central.
Picking up victories for the Starfires were Brock Twitty, Gabe Schwartz, Arron Oyer, Boaz Marbach, Sawyer Miller, Chance Sprunger and Ryan Ford. The team is now 1-3.[[In-content Ad]]
