BERNE - The see-saw pattern continued Thursday.

The South Adams High School girls basketball team bounced back from Friday's 21-point loss to Bluffton, using a huge fourth quarter to rally for a 42-36 victory over the Muncie Burris Owls. The win evened the season at 3-3 for the Starfires, who have alternated wins and losses through the first six games.

South Adams fell behind as it scored just three points in the second quarter, and trailed by eight with just eight minutes to play. But Anne Lehman scored seven fourth-quarter points and Ashton Morgan added six, leading the Starfires to a 19-5 advantage in the final period.

Lehman paced SAHS with a game-high 15 points, which included efforts of 7-for-7 from the foul line and 2-of-3 from 3-point range. Morgan also hit a pair of 3-pointers as she finished with 11 points.

Andrea Moser had seven points and nine rebounds.

Lacy Morz scored 12 points to lead Burris (1-2), and Katie Gunnoe reached double figures with 10.

South Adams lost the junior varsity game 21-16. Tori Kistler hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 10 points for the Starfires while Jasmine Childress racked up 18 to carry Burris.

Tribe 7th wins in OT

FORT RECOVERY - The Indians were ready in crunch time.

After falling behind in the second quarter and trailing by four heading into the fourth, the Fort Recovery seventh grade boys basketball team doubled up on the Versailles Tigers the rest of the way Thursday for a 45-40 overtime triumph. The Tribe eighth grade team lost 45-16.

The seventh grade Indians (1-1) were down 31-27 after three periods, before outscoring Versailles 10-6 in the fourth quarter to pull even and 8-3 in the extra session. Trent Kaiser led the way with 13 points, Keith Fortkamp reached double figures with 10 and Jacob Schoen scored nine.

Fort Recovery's eighth graders managed no more than four points in any of the first three quarters as they fell to 0-2.

Jared Kahlig paced the team with five points, and Derek Gaerke scored four.

EJMS 7th tops Northside

East Jay's seventh-grade boys basketball team defeated Muncie Northside 36-15 Thursday night while the eighth-graders suffered a 42-31 defeat.

Brock McFarland and Kegan Comer combined to pace the Chief seventh-graders with 11 points apiece. Cade Price followed with eight points.

Dillon Ainsworth was the lone EJMS eighth-grader to reach double figures as he finished with 10 points. Andy Haffner followed with nine, and Matt Landfair scored five.
