Stars top Bluffton, push to 2-1 (12/04/06)

BERNE - The South Adams boys improved to 2-1 Friday night with a 56-53 victory over the Bluffton Tigers.

The Starfires trailed by three at the half, but outscored Bluffton 19-7 in the third quarter and held on the for the win.

Jordan Sharp and Daniel Bollenbacher shared top scoring honors for South Adams with 14 points apiece. Darin Toland added 10 points, and Andrew Caffee scored nine.

In junior varsity action the Starfires also improved to 2-1 with a 42-33 win over Bluffton.

Tribe freshman girls win

FORT LORAMIE, Ohio - Fort Recovery's freshman girls team built a five-point lead in the opening quarter and stayed ahead for a 37-32 victory over the Fort Loramie Redskins.

Josie Guggenbiller scored 15 points for the Indians, who evened their record at 1-1. Emily May added seven points.

Fort freshman boys fall

The Fort Recovery freshman boys stumbled in the third quarter of a 36-24 loss Saturday to the Delphos Jefferson Wildcats.

The game was tied at the end of the first quarter and at halftime, but the Indians managed just a pair of third-quarter points. Jefferson pushed its lead to 25-12 in the third period as it handed Fort Recovery a season-opening loss.

Michael Gaerke scored eight points to lead the Indians.

Craig Tobe had five points and seven rebounds, and Nate Keller grabbed 10 boards.[[In-content Ad]]
