BERNE - The hot start for the South Adams High School girls soccer team continued Tuesday with a 2-0 victory over the visiting Leo Lions.
Emily Steiner gave the Starfires (4-1) the only goal they would need 14 minutes into the game. She scored off an assist from Jodie Muhlenkamp.
Junior Ashton Morgan added another goal at the 32:49 mark of the second half and the South Adams defense stood strong for the shutout.
Netters still struggling
HARTFORD CITY - The Starfire boys tennis team will be happy to see its home courts again, and hopeful they can bring a victory.
South Adams slipped to 0-5 Tuesday with a fourth straight road loss, this time by a 4-1 score to the Blackford Bruins.
Chase Ingle earned the Starfires' lone win at No. 2 singles, knocking off Alex Williams 6-2, 6-3.
At No. 1 singles, Brett Wagner rolled in the opening set against Aaron Williams but failed to keep the momentum in his favor as he lost 1-6, 6-4, 7-5. Kegan Sprunger dropped a 6-0, 6-0 shutout to Austin Ford at No. 3 singles.
In doubles action Landyn Waugh and Kyle Schmidt fell 6-1, 6-2 to Micah Adkins and Adam Durn at No. 1, and Reid Zurcher and Jacob Smith lost 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 against Kent Hesher and Blake Musselman.
Daniel Dynes won the lone junior varsity match 8-5 over Nick Ramey.

BERNE - The visiting Parkway Panthers kept the South Adams volleyball team winless on the season, knocking off the Starfires 25-12, 25-11, 25-14.
Karen Bollenbacher had five kills and three blocks in the defeat, and Whitney Ellinger also totaled five kills. Maranda Potts finished with 17 digs, followed by 12 from Andrew Moser, and Jacie Yoder added 12 assists.[[In-content Ad]]
