WINCHESTER — Randolph County proved no match for the Jay County Summer Swim Team Tuesday. Jay County, undefeated this year at 5-0, thumped the host squad 1,409-414 by winning 52 out of 60 individual events and all 18 relays.
Jay County swept seven different age groups and had 34 different winners on the night. Levi Hummel, Caitlin Mark, Wiley Young and Ivy Simons set the pace, each picking up three victories.
Hummel was first in the 8-and-younger boys butterfly, backstroke and short freestyle, and Mark won the 9-10-year-old girls long freestyle, butterfly and short freestyle. Young reached the wall first in the 11-12-year-old boys long freestyle, individual medley and short freestyle, and Simons took the 13-14-year-old girls long freestyle, backstroke and short freestyle.
Ten other swimmers added two victories apiece, with three each coming from the 9-10-year-old division and the 13-14-year-old division. They were Sok Vormohr, Rylee Clemmons, Lane Hull, Ivan Cox, Richard Osterholt, Lauren Murrell, Chance Milligan, Sam Miller, Lindsey Vesperry and Briann Saxman.
Adding single victories on the girls side were Annie Vormohr, Katy Smeltzer, Madison Long, Amelia Freeman, Rhianon Mills, Sophie Bader, Rachel Vogler, Lynne Inman, Darian Barnett, Michaela Long, Emilee Miller, Mallory Poole, Alysha Miller, Michelle Landfair, Brittany Teagle and Kristen Foreman.
Caleb Hummel, Shane Stein, Perry Hull and Joseph Miller each picked up one win for the boys.[[In-content Ad]]
