Tankers win final meet of season

The Jay County High School boys swim team capped off its regular season in dominating fashion over a small Muncie Southside squad.
The Patriots had three dual-event winners and won all 11 swimming events as they rolled to a 212-81 victory Monday over the Rebels.
James Keen, Cody White and Josh Lykins all won individual events for Jay County, which ends its season with a 7-3 record in dual meets.
Keen placed first in both the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 backstroke, Cody White was first in the 200 and 500 freestyle and Lykins won the 50 and 100 freestyle.
Ian Bentz (100 breaststroke) and Sok Vormohr (100 butterfly) won their respective individual races.
The Patriots return to the pool Feb. 20 as they host the preliminary races of the sectional meet. The finals are set for Feb. 22.

Indians win
FORT RECOVERY — Elijah Kahlig hit the 30-point mark for the second time this season, powering the Fort Recovery boys basketball team to a 63-55 victory Tuesday over Fort Loramie.
Fort Loramie shot 72 percent in the opening quarter and was at 52 percent in the first half, taking a 32-30 lead into halftime.
Kahlig accounted for 13 of the Indians’ 15 points in the second quarter, and had 20 at intermission, nearly half the team total.
The two teams went back and forth in the third quarter as the lead changed five times, until Fort Recovery (15-3) took a one point advantage, 42-41, after three quarters.
Ben Dilworth and Kyle Schroer scored 11 and 10 points respectively to give Fort Recovery three players in double digits. Darien Scheffer grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, Dilworth added eight and Kahlig had seven.
Devin Braun led the Redskins with 19 points.
In junior varsity action, the Redskins scored 23 points in the third quarter to run past the Indians, 40-28.
Caleb Martin and Micaiah Cox both scored nine points to lead the Indians, who also got four points from Kyle Knapke. Cox grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

Tribe girls win
FORT RECOVERY — Kendra Siefring split a pair of free throws with 1:11 remaining to break a tie and the Fort Recovery girls basketball team held on to beat the Celina Bulldogs 47-46.
Jenna Berry got the Bulldogs within two, 45-43, and Caelyn Reineke hit a bucket with 2:34 left after Tori Lennartz split a pair of free throws making it a one-point game.
Heather Heiby tied the game for the seventh time when she went 1-of-2 from the free-throw line before Siefring made the game-winning freebie.
Lennartz led all scorers with 18 points, and also had four rebounds and four assists. Siefring finished with nine points and a game-high nine rebounds, and Kara Jutte added eight points for the Indians (9-10, 1-7 Midwest Athletic Conference).
Kourtney Fark and Heiby led the Bulldogs with 13 and 12 points respectively.
The Fort Recovery junior varsity team scored in double figures in all but one quarter while holding Celina to single-digit scoring, beating the Bulldogs 39-24.
Hallory Luthold had a game-high 11 points to lead Fort Recovery, which had eight different players score points. Jocelyn Kaiser tallied eight points, and Whitney Will added six.
