The Fort Recovery High School freshman boys basketball team slipped to 0-2 Monday with a 34-26 defeat against the Versailles Tigers.
The Indians outscored Versailles 9-4 in the second quarter for a four-point lead at the half. But they managed just two points in the third quarter and gave up 15 in the fourth as they faded after the intermission.
Shane Brunswick paced Fort Recovery with 11 points. Ryan Schoen added eight points, and Ryan Link added five.
Starfires fall to Bluffton
South Adams' eighth grade girls basketball team lost Monday by a 26-11 count to the Bluffton Tigers.
Logan Chandler had seven points, three rebounds and two steals for the Starfires, who are now 1-3. Lyndsey Chandler and Ashlynn Jennings each scored two points.
Runyon wins pair
RICHMOND - Nadlie Runyon scored victories in two events as Gym City Gymnastics competed Saturday and Sunday in Richmond.
Runyon finished in first place on the Level 8 floor exercise with an 8.9 and balance beam with an 8.275. She was also second on the vault at 8.7 for a runner-up all-around score of 33.825.
Payten Wilson scored an 8.675 on the Level 4 beam for second place, and Lizzy Schoenlein had an 8.625 on the Level 7 uneven bars to finish second. Courtney Miles and Miranda Hibbard each added third-place efforts on at least one event.[[In-content Ad]]
