Tribe clobbers Fort Loramie, 12-4 (04/09/05)

FORT LORAMIE, Ohio — Home runs by a pair of seniors helped the Fort Recovery baseball team jump back above .500 thanks to a 12-4 victory over the Fort Loramie Redskins Friday.

Dusty Tobe and Greg Faller each went deep for the Indians, who never trailed after scoring seven runs in the first inning. They improved to 4-3 with the win.

Tobe went 2-for-4, driving in four runs and scoring once. Faller scored twice as he finished 3-for-4.

Freshman Bobby Rammel went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs, and senior Todd Post had two hits and three RBIs.

Chris Galdeen had three hits and two runs, and Tony Diller also scored twice.

Post pitched for the win, giving up three runs on eight hits in six innings. He struck out seven and walked four.

SA baseball to 0-3

BERNE — After the first week of the season the South Adams baseball team is still looking for its first win. The Starfires took a second straight five-inning loss Friday, 11-1 to the New Haven Bulldogs.

South Adams (0-3) managed just two hits, and did not score until the bottom of the fifth inning. New Haven scored once in the first inning and five times each in the third and fifth.

Will Grandlienard and Peter Jannson accounted for the lone hits.

Tony Van Gelder gave up six runs — four earned — on five hits in 21/3 innings for the defeat. He walked two and struck out two.

Grandlienard gave up five runs — four earned — in two innings of relief.

Tribe softball below .500

FORT LORAMIE, Ohio — Another hard-to-take loss pushed the Fort Recovery softball team below the .500 mark as it fell 4-3 to the Fort Loramie Redskins Friday.

The teams were tied 3-3 and headed toward extra innings before Fort Loramie scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh. Each of the losses for the Indians (2-3) this year have come by one run.

Alyssa Tobe took the defeat as she gave up four runs — three earned — one nine hits.

Krystal Rammel finished 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs and one RBI. Jill Wehrkamp added a pair of hits and an RBI.

Fort JV teams stumble

FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery’s junior varsity baseball and softball teams both came up on the short end of the score Friday night. The baseball team lost 12-9 to the Fort Loramie Redskins while the softball team dropped a 13-6 decision, also to Fort Loramie.

Kenton Sudhoff had three hits and two runs for the baseball team, and also stole a couple of bases. Jesse Fortkamp had two hits, including a double, and two runs.

Sam Staugler doubled twice for the softball team, and Heather Schmackers also had two hits.[[In-content Ad]]
