Tribe drops 12th straight

COLDWATER, Ohio — There was promise early, but the Indians were unable to halt their losing streak.
Despite taking a 4-0 lead in its first at bat Monday, the Fort Recovery High School softball team lost its 12th straight game as it fell 15-4 in five innings to the Coldwater Cavaliers.
Coldwater scored twice in the second inning and then claimed the lead with an eight-run third.
Beca Tobe took the loss, giving up 11 runs — seven earned — on eight hits and two walks in four innings.
Jackie Fullenkamp led the offense for the Tribe (2-12) by going 3-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI. Karissa Will and Tobe each had two hits and a run, and Haley Knapke had two hits and an RBI.

Starfires still winless
LEO — The South Adams girls tennis team slipped to 0-4 Monday with a 5-0 loss to the Leo Lions.
No. 1 singles player Madi Graber played the closest match for the Starfires, falling 6-3, 6-3 to Annya Mohlman. In other singles matches, Erika Miller lost 6-0, 6-0 to Jenny Timbrook at No. 2 and Madison Kloepper fell 6-1, 6-0 to Millie Adams at No. 2.
Holly Taylor and Faith VonGunten dropped the No. 1 doubles match 6-2, 6-2 to Karie Klopefenstein and Hannah Liechty, and Megan Hreha and Shiana Scott lost 6-0, 6-0 to Brooke Seibel and Cassie Aker at No. 2 doubles.
SAHS also lost the junior varsity match 8-0.

Tribe JV loses
FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery junior varsity baseball team lost 14-1 in five innings Monday to the Celina Bulldogs.

The Indians never led and gave up four runs each in the third, fourth and fifth innings. Nate Lochtefeld gave up 10 runs — seven earned — on five hits and six walks to take the defeat.
Cole Wendel singled and scored a run. Tony Keller and Derek Backs had the only other hits for the Tribe (1-12).

Huelskamp leads FR
FORT RECOVERY — Caitlyn Huelskamp earned three of Fort Recovery’s five wins Monday as the middle school girls track team scored 90 points to defeat Marion Local (43), Jackson Center (40) and Russia (39).
The boys team was third with 32 points behind Russia (105) and Marion Local (60). Jackson Center was last with 15.
Huelskamp swept the distance events, taking the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 46 seconds, and the 1,600 run in 5:58.5. She was also first in the high jump at 4 feet, 4 inches.
Chelsea Timmerman won the 100 hurdles in 18 seconds flat.
Wes Wenning picked up the only win for the boys team with a leap of 14 feet, 8½ inches, in the long jump.

SAMS girls win
BLUFFTON — Caroline Kloepper and Olivia VonGunten each won two events to lead the South Adams Middle School girls track team to a 63-37 win over the Bluffton Tigers. The boys team lost, 66-34.
Kloepper took the top spot in the 100-meter dash in 14.1 seconds and the 200 dash in 29.7. VonGunten was first in the 800 run in 2 minutes, 57.5 seconds, and the 1,600 run in 6:13.
Drew LeFever picked up three victories for the boys team, taking the 200 dash in 26.5, the shot put at 38 feet, 5½ inches, and the discus at 100 feet.
Other wins came from Makinzi Peace, Lauren Klaehn, Emma Rosswurm and Cole Myers.[[In-content Ad]]
