Tribe drops fourth straight

VERSAILLES, Ohio — The Indians struggled after the opening game Tuesday as they lost to a conference opponent for the second time this week.
Fort Recovery High School’s volleyball team dropped its fourth straight match Thursday, falling 25-21, 25-11, 25-15 to the Versailles Tigers.
Ericka Lennartz paced the Tribe in the loss with 12 digs, five kills and four service points. The Indians, who lost in three games Tuesday to Minster, are now 4-8 overall and 1-4 in the Midwest Athletic Conference.
Kylie Kahlig followed Lennartz with seven blocks and six kills. Abby Backs finished with 18 digs, and Amy Link scored 12 service points.
In the junior varsity match, Sierra Pugh totaled five service points, four blocks and four digs in a 25-20, 25-22 loss to Minster. Tori Lennartz had five digs for FRHS (6-3), and Heather Vaughn notched five service points.

Golfers fall
ROCKFORD, Ohio — Fort Recovery fell just short Thursday in a 163-165 loss to the host Parkway Panthers at Deerfield Golf Course.
Elijah Kahlig recorded pars on each of the first three holes at Deerfield and finished with five to go along with a birdie on the par-5 eighth hole. He led the Indians with a 38.
Brian Schatzer and Jordan Bollenbacher shared medalist honors for Parkway at 37.
Gage Retz recorded three pars and a birdie as he followed Elijah Kahlig with a 40 for the Indians, and Jared Kahlig finished with six pars on the way to a 41. Derek Rammel and Shawn Reossner each finished at 46, and Hayden Pottkotter added a 48.

Gridders cruise
ROCKFORD, Ohio — Darien Sheffer and Cole Dues led their teams to victories Thursday as the Fort Recovery eighth grade football team topped the host Parkway Panthers 24-14 and the seventh graders won 38-6.
Sheffer launched four touchdown passes, including tosses of 65 and 63 yards to Jackson Hobbs, as the eighth grade Indians (1-2-1) picked up their first win. He also hit Kyle Schroer for a 52-yard TD, and passed to Evan Link for a 13-yard score.
Dues dominated the running attack in the seventh grade game, leading the Indians (4-1) with touchdown runs of 45, 65 and 55 yards in the opening quarter.Caleb Martin added TD passes of 50 yards to Hunter Vogel and 35 yards to Austin Jutte.

7th beats Panthers
FORT RECOVERY — Abby Wenning led the Fort Recovery Middle School seventh grade volleyball team to a three-game win Thursday, 25-23, 23-25, 25-21 over the Versailles Tigers.
The eighth grade team lost, 25-23, 25-18.
Wenning totaled six service points, two kills and two assists for the Indians, who pulled to within a match of .500 at 4-5. Devin Post had nine kills, and Jill Roessner matched Wenning with six service points.
Morgan Lennartz totaled five kills and a block for the eighth graders, who are also 4-5. Jackie Heiser finished with eight service points, and Trisha Thien and Kasey Vogel each added seven.[[In-content Ad]]
