Tribe stumbles against Parkway (08/31/07)

ROCKFORD, Ohio - After dropping a tight first game Thursday, the Fort Recovery High School volleyball team went down in three by a 25-21, 25-17, 25-19 score to the Parkway Panthers.
Kinsey Wenning led the Indians (1-1) in their Midwest Athletic Conference opener. The junior finished second on the team in digs (nine), kills (six) and points (five).
Nicole Pottkotter had 12 assists and two blocks, and Kelsey Wuebker totaled nine points and five assists. Emily May finished with 11 digs, Beth May had nine digs, Joanna Snyder put down seven kills and Anne Koester added four blocks.
Chelsey Leuthold led the Tribe junior varsity team (2-0) to a 25-15, 23-25, 25-18 victory over the Panthers with 15 points, seven digs and six kills. Josie Guggenbiller had 11 assists and seven points, Alyssa Brackman totaled 17 digs, and Olivia Thien and Lauren Staugler each had three blocks.
Rangers top golfers
CELINA, Ohio - The Indian boys golf team got its best score from its No. 5 player, but still suffered a 185-192 defeat Thursday to the New Knoxville Rangers at Mercer County Elks Golf Course.
Travis Hart earned match medalist honors for Fort Recovery, finishing with seven bogies to go along with a par on the eighth hole for a 45.
Brandon Steinbrunner had two pars and six bogies for a 46, and A.J. Backs totaled seven bogies in his round of 49.
Dustin Grieshop capped the team score with a 52, Brady Kahlig shot 53 and Tommy Staugler finished at 56.
Wave topples Indians
FORT RECOVERY - Fort Recovery's junior high volleyball teams each fell short Thursday with the eighth graders losing 25-19, 22-25, 25-23 the Greenville Green Wave while the seventh grade squad dropped a 25-15, 25-23 decision.
Mikayla Westgerdes racked up 10 points, including five aces, for the eighth grade Indians (1-1), who came up short after rallying to force a third game. Rashell Muhlenkamp added eight points, Kylie Kahlig had three kills, Olivia Schwieterman notched three assists and Kara Faller totaled three blocks.
Janelle Schwieterman had 13 points and one kill to pace Fort Recovery's seventh graders (0-2). Chelsea Pottkotter scored seven points.[[In-content Ad]]
