Tribe takes 8th grade game (01/21/2009)

FORT RECOVERY - The Fort Recovery Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team knocked off the Minster Wildcats 26-21 Tuesday. The seventh graders fell, 37-10.
Rachel Rammel finished with six points to lead the Indian eighth graders (5-1). Chelsea Pottkotter and Melissa Lochtefeld each had five points.
Lexi Schmitz totaled four points as the FRMS seventh graders slipped to 2-4.
WJ 7th beats Raiders
PONETO - West Jay Middle School's seventh grade boys basketball team finished its season with a 40-36 victory over host Southern Wells. The eighth grade squad lost 47-42.
Kyle Selvey scored 13 points to pace the seventh grade Eagles, who posted a 5-6 record. Toby McCalister added nine points, and Dan Walter scored seven.
Chase Louck finished with 14 points for the eighth grade team. Tyler Back joined him in double figures with 10.
EJ 8th slams Delta
MUNCIE - The East Jay Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team dominated the first quarter on the way to a 56-34 win over host Delta. The seventh grade team struggled in the final three quarters of a 36-19 defeat.
Brock McFarland racked up 19 points for the eighth grade Chiefs, who outscored Delta 22-7 in the opening period. Scott Schwieterman added 14 points, and Kegan Comer scored 11.
The EJMS seventh graders led 9-2 after the opening quarter, but got shut out in the second and outscored 24-10 in the second half. Zane Shreve scored a team-high 12 points, and Jacob Schlosser chipped in four.
Stars fall short
GENEVA - South Adams Middle School's eighth grade girls basketball team lost 35-29 Tuesday to visiting Prince Chapman.
Tori Smith totaled 12 points and eight rebounds to lead the Starfires. Kristen Muselman added seven points and 11 rebounds, and Shanti Inniger scored six points.
Chiefs defeat Wilson
The East Jay Middle School sixth grade girls basketball team improved to 2-0 Tuesday with a 32-6 win over visiting Muncie Wilson.
Catherine Dunn scored eight points to lead the Chiefs. Malarie Houck added six points, and Breanne McIntire grabbed five rebounds.
Lucy Hemmelgarn had six points as the B team topped Wilson 16-0.[[In-content Ad]]
