Tribe third in 4x800

Fort Recovery roundup

COLDWATER, Ohio — The Indian girls picked up some points Thursday, but weren’t able to advance anyone to tonight’s finals.
Fort Recovery High School’s girls track team placed third in the 4x800-meter relay in the opening day of the Mercer County Meet and is currently fifth in the six-team field with seven points. The Tribe boys went scoreless Thursday.
Marion Local leads the girls competition with 36 points while host Coldwater led the boys with 53. The meet will conclude tonight.
Elle Sutter, Jessica Vogel, Caitlyn Huelskamp and Sam Tobe teamed to take third for the FRHS girls in the 4x800 relay. They finished in 10 minutes, 32.35 seconds to trail Coldwater and St. Henry.
Hannah Kaup added a sixth-place finish for the Indians in the long jump at 15 feet, 6¾ inches.

Softball loses
FORT RECOVERY — The Indians broke their scoreless streak, but are still looking for their first conference win after falling 5-2 Thursday to the New Bremen Cardinals.
Fort Recovery scored twice in the third inning against the Cardinals in their final game before playing Minster in the sectional tournament at 3 p.m. Saturday at New Bremen. It had been shut out 10-0 Tuesday by Versailles and 15-0 Wednesday by Marion Local.
Jackie Fullenkamp powered the Tribe (1-17, 0-7 Midwest Athletic Conference) with two doubles and a run. Ashley Homan had two hits and an RBI, Maleia Fullenkamp finished 2-for-3 and Janelle Schwieterman had a double and an RBI.
Homan suffered the loss, allowing five runs — four earned — on five hits and three walks.


JV baseball falls
ANNA, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s junior varsity baseball team gave up a couple of big innings Thursday in an 8-4 loss to the Anna Rockets.
The Indians led 1-0 before giving up five runs in the third inning. They pulled to within 5-4, but then gave up three more runs in the sixth.
Chase Bruns took the defeat, giving up six runs — two earned — on four hits and three walks in 5 1/3 innings.
Brandon Schoen finished 2-for-3 with an RBI for Fort Recovery. Bruns added a single and two RBIs.

Stocker places 2nd
COLDWATER, Ohio — Fort Recovery Middle School’s track teams scored just 10 points Thursday, but also qualified six athletes for tonight’s finals of the Mercer County Meet at Coldwater.
The Indian boys are currently fifth in the six-team field with 10 points. The girls team went scoreless Thursday.
Andrew Stocker paced the Tribe boys with a runner-up finish in the shot put at 35 feet, 4 inches. Cole Dues and Jason Roessner tied for fifth in the high jump at 4 feet, 8 inches.
Qualifying for tonight’s finals were Lauren Gehle (100-meter dash), Abby Wenning (100 dash, 100 hurdles), Kiah Wendel (200 dash), Angela Heitkamp (400 dash) and Sydney Crouch (200 hurdles) for the girls, and Dues (100 dash) for the boys.[[In-content Ad]]
