Trojans knock off Fort Recovery

FORT RECOVERY — The Indians held a brief lead, but couldn’t produce much offense in their 10th loss of the season.
After grabbing the advantage in the first inning Saturday, the Fort Recovery High School baseball team gave up seven unanswered runs in a 7-1 loss to the Arcanum Trojans.
Arcanum pulled even in the second inning and scored twice in the third to take the lead. It added four runs in the seventh.
Alex Thien went the distance and took the loss for the Indians as all seven runs against him were unearned thanks to six errors. He gave up four hits and four walks while striking out two batters.
Blake Boughman had a single and an RBI for Fort Recovery (4-10), which totaled five hits, and Collin O’Dell singled and scored a run. Other hits came from Jared Kahlig, Hayden Pottkotter and Kent Retz.

Softball loses
CONVOY, Ohio — Fort Recovery suffered its 11th straight defeat on Saturday, falling 14-4 in five innings to the Lincolnview Lancers in tournament action at Crestview.
The Indians trailed 4-1 after three innings, and Lincolnview broke open the game with eight runs in the fourth.
Beca Tobe took the loss for the Tribe, giving up 14 runs — six earned — on 10 hits and four walks. She struck out three batters.
Haley Knapke paced the offense for FRHS (2-11) with a single, a double, an RBI and a run. Melissa Lochtefeld went 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs.

JV baseball falls
ARCANUM, Ohio — The Indians gave up four runs in the fifth inning Saturday in a 5-1 loss to the Arcanum Trojans.
All five runs for Arcanum were unearned as Fort Recovery (1-10) committed five errors. Cole Wendel gave up three hits and two walks in the loss for the Indians, who were ahead 1-0 before allowing four runs in the fifth inning.
Ben Will finished 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Tony Keller had the only other Tribe hit.
