Three goals in the first 12 minutes doomed the Jay County High School girls soccer team Saturday as it fell 4-0 to the visiting Huntington North Vikings.
Huntington North (2-1) needed less than five minutes to break through for its first score as Kelsey Hollowell floated a shot from the left side into the right corner of the net. Alyssa Grabner extended the Vikings’ lead at the 32:20 mark off an assist from Lauren Bradburn, and just four minutes later Hollowell put the ball in the net again to make it 3-0.
Hollowell completed her hat trick in the second half for the final margin as the Vikings out-shot JCHS 12-2.
The Patriots were missing five players. including goalie Mollie May and defender Nikka Chaney, because of the Indiana State Fair cheerleading competition as well as junior midfielder LeAnn Horn because of an injury.
Jay County (0-2) will be back in action on the road at Connersville Tuesday at 5 p.m.[[In-content Ad]]
