Visiting Knights clobber South Adams (12/12/07)

BERNE - The Norwell Knights scored at least 20 points in each of the first three quarters Tuesday as they trounced the South Adams High School girls basketball team 76-34.

Norwell (7-1), whose only loss this year came at Jay County, took a 21-4 lead in the opening quarter and pushed the advantage to 34 points at halftime. The Starfires (3-7), now in the midst of a four-game losing streak, turned the ball over 37 times in the defeat.

Haley Chaney and Andrea Vogel each scored 21 points to lead the visiting Knights. Alyssa Shutt and Allee Donaghy added nine points apiece.

Ashton Morgan scored 15 of her team-high 16 points for South Adams in the second half. She hit a pair of third-quarter 3-pointers and also led the Starfires in rebounds (five) and assists (four).

Andrea Moser had six points, five rebounds and two assists, and Anne Lehman also scored six points.

Tori Kistler led the SAHS junior varsity team with seven points in its 30-12 loss to the Knights.

FR freshmen fall

MINSTER, Ohio - Fort Recovery High School's freshman boys basketball team fell behind in the second quarter and never recovered in a 51-31 loss Monday to the Minster Wildcats.

The Tribe trailed by just four points after the first quarter, but was outscored 19-5 in the second. Minster scored another 17 points in the third quarter to open a 23-point lead.

Shane Brunswick paced Fort Recovery with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Elliott Post and Ryan Link each added eight points.[[In-content Ad]]
