Wapahani downs Jay

Taking on undefeated Wapahani volleyball was a tall order for Jay County.
The Class 2A powerhouse proved why it’s No. 1, taking out the Patriots in three games.
Jay County couldn’t get close to the defending state champions, falling 25-11, 25-14 and 25-12.
Hannah Ainsworth picked up 10 digs and seven assists, Breanne McIntire dug seven balls and added four kills and Malarie Houck added five assists.
The JV squad also fell in two games, but played the first of the two tight in the 25-22, 25-12 loss.
Mallory Marshall had six digs and Abby Wendell collected five digs and two kills.

Girls soccer falls
The Patriots trailed the entire game at Norwell, falling 3-1 to the Knights.
Norwell got its first goal less than two minutes into the game and led 2-0 at the half. The Knights went up 3-0 seven minutes into the second period.
The Patriots (2-3) got their sole goal when Alex Loy dropped a pass to the right side and Ericka Reynolds rushed forward and booted it for the score with 12:43 remaining.
The JV squad was shutout 6-0, giving up four goals in the first half. The Patriots mustered only three shots on goal in the contest.

East Jay loses
The Chiefs seventh grade football team was blown out by New Castle, falling 40-0.
Seth Fugiett completed two passes to Ethan Myers, while Myers and Henry Hemmelgarn combined to rush for more than 50 yards.
Mitchell Frazier had a fumble recovery and Jacob Ferguson recorded tackles for loss.[[In-content Ad]]
