Warriors defeat Starfire spikers (09/28/05)

BERNE — South Adams slipped back to .500 in the Allen County Athletic Conference with a 25-11, 25-20, 25-21 loss to the Woodlan Warriors Tuesday.

Renee Neuenschwander posted a team-best seven kills for the Starfires (5-15, 3-3 ACAC) and shared the team high of two aces with Tamara Moser. She also came up with eight digs.

Andrea Moser finished with five kills and three blocks, and Brooke Fox had six kills. Alyssa Miller put up 19 assists, and Maranda Potts totaled 10 digs.

South Adams also lost the junior varsity match to Woodlan, 25-14, 25-21.

Chiefs defeat Westside

East Jay grabbed a couple of wins Tuesday over Union City Westside. The eighth graders improved to 5-5 with a 25-9, 25-17 victory, and the seventh grade team took a 25-11, 25-17 win.

Kayla Phillips scored 12 points for East Jay, five of which came on aces. Ashley Langenkamp followed with nine points, including six aces.

Pazia Speed and Liz Walker each notched four assists, and Shelby Gierhart had three digs. Speed and Kelsey Wood each had one block.

Laura Castillo paced the seventh grade team with nine points, including four aces. She also had four digs.

Abby Denney had six digs, Kayla Sager added four digs and Brittany Manor notched four assists.

Fort eighth rolls to 9-1

DELPHOS, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s eighth grade volleyball team kept its winning streak alive with a 25-21, 25-13 victory over the Delphos St. Johns Blue Jays. The seventh graders lost to St. Johns, 25-22, 25-12.

Alyssa Brackman had a dominating service match, racking up 20 points as the eighth grade Indians (9-1) won their sixth straight. She also had a pair of kills.

Jessica Taylor finished with eight points and four kills.

Barbie Link had 11 points for the seventh grade team (5-4). Renee Fortkamp and Nichole Kaiser each had two points, and Olivia Thien notched a pair of kills.

WJ splits with Raiders

DUNKIRK — West Jay’s eighth grade team stayed on the winning track with a 25-16, 25-10 victory over the Southern Wells Raiders. The Eagle seventh graders took a 25-14, 25-14 defeat.

Brittany Franklin racked up 12 points for the eighth grade team, including eight in the game-one victory. She totaled eight aces.

Brittany Muhlenkamp had seven points, including five aces, and Amber McCowan also scored seven points. Brittney Watson finished with a pair of kills.

Denia Hough scored four points in the seventh grade team’s defeat.

Winona Westlake added three kills.

Breanna Dahlstrom scored three points, two of which came on aces.[[In-content Ad]]
