West Jay wrestlers win again (02/04/05)

DUNKIRK — West Jay’s wrestling team stayed perfect on the young season Thursday, knocking off Hartford City 21-18.
The Eagles got victories from Jerid Conatser, Keri VanSkyock, Shay White and Andrew Lancaster. They improved to 2-0 on the year.
Also winning exhibition matches were Conatser, White, Seth Drumm and Alan Brown.
Fort takes finale
The Fort Recovery eighth grade boys basketball team closed its regular season Thursday with a 44-37 victory over the New Bremen Cardinals.
The Tribe took control of the game early, grabbing a 13-5 lead after one quarter. It pushed the advantage to 11 points at halftime and fought off New Bremen in the second half for the win.
Toby Metzger paced the Indians with 20 points. Jordan Hess added nine, and Wes Kahlig scored seven.
Fort Recovery will play New Knoxville in the first round of the Midwest Athletic Conference tournament at Delphos St. Johns Saturday at 9 a.m.
Sectional tickets
Tickets to the Elwood girls basketball sectional will go on sale Monday.
They will be available in the JCHS athletics office from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday. Only full sectional tickets are available in advance, at a cost of $9.
Sectional action begins Tuesday at 6 p.m., with the host Panthers playing Tipton and Delta taking on Mississinewa. Jay County drew a bye, and will play in the semifinal round Friday, Feb. 11 against Blackford at 7:30 p.m.
The championship game will be Saturday, Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
