Young swimmers lead Jay Co. over Delta (06/06/06)

MUNCIE — With the young swimmers leading the way, the Jay County Summer Swim Team won its 2006 opener Monday.

Jay County took every event in the 8-and-younger division for a 562-433 victory over Delta at Delta High School.

Four Jay County swimmers won three events apiece in the youngest age division — Sophie Bader and Anne Vormohr for the girls and Adam Young and Sok Vormohr for the boys.

Bader finished first the 8-and-younger girls long freestyle, butterfly and breaststroke while Anne Vormohr won the backstroke, individual medley and short freestyle. Adam Young picked up victories in the 8-and-younger boys long freestyle, backstroke and short freestyle, and Vormohr was first in the butterfly, individual medley and breaststroke.

Rhianon Mills added three wins in the 9-10-year-old girls division, taking the long freestyle, individual medley and breaststroke. Aaron Hudson earned victories in the long freestyle, butterfly and individual medley for the 13-14-year-old boys.

Finishing with two wins apiece were Katy Smeltzer, Levi Hummel, Wiley Young, Lucas Holcomb, Neal Fennig, Cori Vormohr and Tom McCord.[[In-content Ad]]
