Rockets split doubleheader
Portland Rockets
AURORA — The Rockets entered Saturday riding a nine-game win streak.
The Yorkville Yaks and Mother Nature spoiled Portland’s final road trip of the season.
Portland (25-11) pushed its win streak to double digits with a 10-0 win in the first game of a doubleheader before Yorkville answered back with a 5-2 win in the second game.
Dan Bollenbacher, a South Adams High School graduate, scattered two hits and struck out seven in the win in game one. He needed only 77 pitches.
Every Rocket starter had at least one hit in the contest, with Dalton Tinsley, Justin Marrero and T.J. Lindstrand each tallying two.
In the second game, Tyler Reynolds took the loss, surrendering five hits and walking one.
Sunday’s doubleheader against the Cincinnati Chiefs was rained out, ending Portland’s regular season prematurely.
The Rockets return to action Friday as they host the Fort Wayne Jackers, Summit City Sluggers and Lake Erie Buckeyes in the World Baseball Congress tournament at Runkle-Miller Field.
