Wednesday vs. Muncie Central: Jay County rallied from an 11-point deficit to send the game into overtime, and late free throws gave the Patriots a season-opening victory over Muncie Central, 43-40. The Patriots made four straight free throws in overtime, while the Bearcats were 0-of-7 for the game from the free-throw line.
Season leaders (per game): Points — Houck 16, Adam Dirksen 14, Justin Dirksen seven. Rebounds — Adam Dirksen nine, Houck seven. Assists — Justin Dirksen 3.

Wednesday at Hamilton: Lakewood Park Christian exploded for 32 points in the second quarter in a 70-48 road victory against the Hamilton Marines. Drake Donaldson and Austin Mann each scored 15 points to lead the Panthers, who made 11-of-24 from 3-point range.
Season leaders (per game): Points — Donaldson 15, Mann 15, Day 14. Rebounds — Gerke seven, three with six. Assists — Gerke 3.
Last season: Jay County beat the buzzer twice in a 53-51 overtime win against Lakewood Park Christian. Senior Zach Fullenkamp sank a put-back shot as time expired in overtime, and Jacob Schlosser drained a 3-pointer at the end of regulation to send the game into an extra period. Schlosser led the Patriots with 15 points, and Kyle Selvey had nine.
Game notes: This is the seventh meeting between Jay County and Lakewood Park, with the Patriots having won all six previous contests ... The Panthers return six seniors, including three of their top six scorers from last season.
