Jay County to host Lions

Last week vs. South Adams: Jay County moved the football effectively in the first half, racking up more than 200 rushing yards, but fell flat and turned the ball over three times after halftime in a 41-18 loss to South Adams.?Freshman Cole Stigleman rushed for 194 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries.
Season leaders: Passing — Nick Clemens – 11-of-24 for 98 yards and four interceptions. Rushing — Cole Stigleman – 63 carries for 465 yards and five touchdowns. Receiving — Aaron Neal – four catches for 39 yards. Defense — Mario Rodriguez – 47 tackles, 1.5 sacks and one fumble recovery.

Leo, 5-2 (4-0)
Coach: Jared Sauder, ninth year
Conference: Allen County Athletic Conference
Last week vs. at Woodlan: Leo continued its ACAC winning streak with a 10-9 road win at Woodlan. The Lions scored on a touchdown pass from Kray Klopfenstein to Gunner Brown and a field goal. Woodlan found the end zone on a fumble recovery by Herm Rorick, but the potential game-tying PAT?was blocked. The teams combined for just 280 total yards.
Season leaders: Passing — Kray Klopfenstein – 56-of-101 for 792 yards, nine touchdowns and five interceptions. Rushing — Logan Leiter – 79 carries for 459 yards and seven total touchdowns. Receiving — Gunner Brown – 14 receptions for 224 yards and three touchdowns. Defense — Tanner Mellady – 44 tackles, 30 assists.

Last meeting: Leo racked up nearly 450 yards of total offense in a 59-6 clubbing of the host Patriots in 2010. The Lions scored 28 points in the opening quarter and found the end zone six times in the first half. Zach Cash scored the lone touchdown for the Patriots on a 60-yard run on the second play of the second quarter.

Game notes: This is just the second meeting between Jay County and Leo, and will likely be the last as the Lions are set to leave the ACAC following this school year ... Jay County freshman Cole Stigleman has become the Patriots’ leading rusher, three games after starting fullback Drew Huffman was lost for the season to an injury ... Leo has won 11 straight ACAC contests, with its last loss coming in a 20-6 defeat in 2010 to Garrett, which left the conference prior to this season ... All fans are asked to wear pink in honor of breast cancer awareness. The?Jay County Cancer Society will also be on hand taking donations and celebrating 50 years of service to the community.
