Siefring named all-MAC

For the second consecutive season, Kendra Siefring was honored for her efforts on the volleyball court.
Siefring, a Fort Recovery High School junior, was named to the all-Midwest Athletic Conference first team on Tuesday. She was given honorable mention honors as a sophomore.
This is the first time a Tribe player has made the first team since Nicole Pottkotter in 2009.
Cassidy Rammel was named to the all-MAC second team, and Tori Lennartz earned honorable mention.
Fort Recovery (8-13, 1-8 MAC) opens sectional play tonight against conference rival Parkway at 6 p.m. in Rockford.

Stars sweep Indians
UNION CITY — South Adams’ volleyball team overcame a late rally by Union City, holding on for a three-game sweep of the host Indians, 25-15, 25-12, 25-23.
Addie Wanner led the way for the Starfires with 10 kills. Morgan Alberson chipped in with 14 digs, and Julia Grabau had 13 assists.
Kylie Grabau was dominant at the net, tallying eight blocks, and Caralie Farlow notched three stops to go with her four aces. Lauren Smith recorded 13 digs, and Cindy In’tGroen had seven kills.
The Starfire junior varsity team also won, 25-11, 25-22.
Madi Wurster and Shania Neal both totaled nine kills, and Jade Farlow had 11 digs and three blocks.

EJMS 8th wins
Kailee Denney and Sarah Walter led the East Jay Middle School eighth grade volleyball team to a 25-14, 24-25, 15-11 win over the R.J. Baskett (Gas City) Indians on Tuesday.

Denney went a perfect 21-for-21 from the service line, helping the Chiefs to 16 points. She also added 11 assists.
Walter posted team highs in kills (nine), digs (five) and aces (four). Olivia Kunkler notched seven kills, and Hannah Phillips tallied six points.
Macey Weitzel led the EJMS seventh graders in their 25-12, 25-15 loss.
She had three points, two aces and a pair of kills. Elyse Bost had three digs and two points, and Hanna James tallied three kills and two assists.
East Jay’s sixth graders beat the Indians, 25-11, 17-23, 15-13.
Pacie Denney recorded three aces on her way to nine service points. Alana Kunkler had six points and two kills, and Kearsten Myers notched five points.

Stuber leads Stars
BERNE — Nic Stuber scored a pair of touchdowns for the South Adams seventh grade football team in its first loss of the season.
Woodlan beat the Starfires 19-14. The eighth grade squad also lost, 18-0.
Stuber carried the ball 12 times for 72 yards, scoring on runs of 3 and 38 yards. He completed one pass for 23 yards to Grady Sprunger, who also added 33 yards rushing.
Defensively, Sprunger and Stuber had eight and nine tackles respectively.
For the SAMS eighth graders, Drake Deitsch had seven carries for 35 yeards and caught two of Drew Velasco’s passes for 34 yards.
Deitch tallied 13 tackles, Velasco notched nine and Grant Besser chipped in with six stops.
The seventh graders end their season 6-1 (5-1 Allen County Athletic Conference), and the eighth grade team finished 0-7 (0-6 ACAC).
