Tribe's Sutter reaches regional

OTTAWA, Ohio — Travis Sutter’s cross country season isn’t over just yet.
The FRHS sophomore earned a berth in the regional meet, finishing ninth in 17 minutes, 27 seconds on Saturday in the district cross country meet at Ottawa-Glandorf. He moves on to the Tiffin regional Saturday.
The Fort Recovery boys placed 11th with 287 points, and the girls were seventh with 187.
Following Sutter were Isaac Siegrist (34th), Sam Huelskamp (72nd), Harrison Kaup (82), Rodney Hemmert (90th) and Daniel Cope (93rd).
Caitlyn Huelskamp led the Tribe girls, finishing in 25th. Grace Gehle (35th), Chelsea Timmerman (44th), Paige McCain (48th), Alexis Hobbs (51st) and Heather Klenke (54th) also ran for the Tribe girls.

Chiefs win ACAC
PONETO — East Jay Middle School’s eighth grade volleyball team claimed the Allen County Athletic Conference title Saturday at Southern Wells.
After defeating the host Raiders on Wednesday, the Chiefs (19-5) earned victories Saturday against the Leo Lions (25-19, 25-8) in the semifinal and the South Adams Starfires (25-11, 25-13) in the title match.
Kailee Denney went a flawless 26-for-26 from the service line on Saturday, serving the Chiefs to 21 points and tallying four aces.
Sarah Walter was next with 15 points and totaled a team-high nine kills. Maggie Pryor added 13 points, nine of which were aces, and had a team-high 17 digs. Hanna Dillon and Gwen Omstead both tallied seven kills and Hannah Phillips had eight digs.
