Josh Lykins is already going to the NAIA nationals as part of Lindsey Wilson College’s 400-meter freestyle relay team.
Now he’ll compete as an individual.
The 2014 Jay County High School graduate took first place in the 100 butterfly Saturday in the Blue Raiders’ 178-38 home victory over Bethel (Tenn.).
His time of 54.70 seconds earned him a “B” cut for the national meet in March, and was more than four seconds faster than his teammate Tolga Dogruyol, who finished second.
The freshman also placed third in the 200 butterfly in 2:10.11, and was the anchor of the 400 freestyle relay team that placed second. He joined Hayden Pendergraft, Dogruyol and Shelby Stevenson to finish in 3:36.95.

Dylan Cope
Jay County – 2013
Was one of only two runners to break the 28-minute mark as he ran for the Indiana University East men’s cross country team Saturday at the Midway College Invitational.
Cope finished second for the Red Wolves in 27 minutes, 46.28 seconds, for second place as he finished nearly 25 seconds ahead of third-place runner Kieren Broussard of Kentucky State. He led IU East to a runner-up finish in the six-team event.

Hannah Moore
Jay County - 2012
Led the Huntington University women’s cross country team for the second straight week Saturday at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Moore turned in the top time for the Foresters in 18 minutes, 54 seconds, for the 5K race. She was 11th overall out of 367 competitors.

Tim Lehman
South Adams – 2012
Also competed at the Great Lakes Challenge, posting the fifth-best time for the Goshen College men’s team.
Lehman turned in a time of 28 minutes, 3.29 seconds, for the Maple Leafs in the 8K race. He was 95th overall as Goshen placed seventh out of 39 teams.

Kelsey Fiely
Fort Recovery – 2013
Helped the University of Northwestern Ohio volleyball team to a 25-8, 25-11, 25-12 blowout win Saturday over Grace.
Fiely played in all three sets for the Racers, recording two digs and a kill. She also had three digs Friday in a 25-21, 25-19, 25-19 win over Bethel.

Julie Valentine
Jay County – 2013
Ran for the Stephens College women’s cross country team Saturday at the St. Louis Fall Classic.
Valentine had the No. 6 time for the Stars at 26 minutes, 17 seconds, for the 5K race. She was 122nd overall.
