FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery High School’s baseball team won 13 straight games last season.
It nearly halfway to that total this year.
The Indians took advantage of four errors and scored eight runs in the second inning Friday in a 14-0 victory in five innings over the visiting Houston Wildcats.
Fort Recovery (6-0) plated one run in the first inning before exploding for eight in the second. It added three more in the third and a pair in the fourth to record the lopsided victory.
Jackson Hobbs led the Indians both offensively and defensively. The junior had two hits, including a double, with an RBI and three runs. He also notched his second victory of the season on the bump, allowing both of the Wildcats’ hits while striking out five and walking four in four innings.
Mitchel Stammen had a pair of hits, scored twice and swiped two bases. Jacob Homan smacked a two-run double, and Ross Homan drove in a pair of runs on a triple.
Derek Backs, Nathan Lochtefeld and Chase Bruns each added singles, and Lochtefeld scored three times.
