Bruns leads Tribe golfers

VAN WERT, Ohio — Chase Bruns played the best round of golf in his high school career.
It helped the Indians finish second.
The Fort Recovery High School boys golf team was runner up Thursday in the Lancer Invitational at Hickory Sticks Golf Club.
The host Lincolnview Lancers won with a score of 324. Fort Recovery shot 337, tying its season best from 2014, and St. Henry was third with 345.
Miller City (351) and Ottoville (370) were fourth and fifth respectively.
Bruns, a senior, made birdie three times, including back-to-back on the par-4 fifth and par-4 sixth holes, to finish with a 5-over-par 77. He made par seven times and bogeyed eight holes. His previous career-best was an 81 on Aug. 12, 2014, at the Mercer County Invitational.
Jackson Hobbs made par 10 times — a team high — to finish with an 82. Nick Litmer and Austin Faller shot an 88 and 90 respectively to round out the Indians’ team score. Both Faller and Litmer converted birdies, with Faller doing so on the par-4 10th and Litmer making his on the par-3 13th.
Calvin Rammel and Colt Greishop also competed for the Tribe, turning in scores of 93 and 94 respectively.
Joshah Rager of Lincolnview was the match medalist with a 1-under 71.
