Kegan Comer had missed his first two 3-point attempts.
That didn’t stop the Cougars from feeding their junior guard with the game on the line.
The 2013 Jay County High School graduate delivered, nailing a 3-pointer with 1.3 seconds left Wednesday to lift the NAIA Division II No. 19 University of St. Francis men’s basketball team to a 79-77 victory over Grace.
The Cougars trailed for most of the second half, pulled ahead in the final two minutes and then watched their lead disappear when Grace’s Logan Irwin hit a pair of free throws with 14 seconds remaining.
Comer’s 3-pointer lifted USF (6-3), which bounced back from an 84-79 loss in its previous game Nov. 24 against Huntington. He finished 6-of-11 from the field and shared the game-high of 13 points with teammate Seth Small.
He also had five assists, two rebounds, a block and a steal.

Had one tackle for the University of Saint Francis football team Saturday in its NAIA FCS quarterfinal victory.
The fourth-ranked Cougars (11-0) scored 28 points in the third quarter to beat No. 5 Montana Tech, 42-20.
Hemmelgarn, a redshirt freshman, teamed with Spencer Cowherd to bring down MT running back Nolan Saraceni for no gain early in the fourth quarter.
The Cougars host No. 6 Marian University in the semifinal Saturday. USF defeated Marian 45-41 Oct. 3 in Indianapolis.

Fort Recovery – 2012
Was efficient off the bench for the University of Northwestern Ohio’s men’s basketball team Wednesday as it defeated Michigan-Dearborn 70-60.
Pottkotter played just 13 minutes, but grabbed a team-high seven rebounds in the process. He shot 2-of-3 from the field and added a free throw for five points.

Jay County – 2015
Scored three points, grabbed four rebounds and had one assist for the Brescia University women’s basketball team Sunday in a 93-53 victory against Miami-Middletown.
Dunn also split a pair of free throws and had a pair of steals for the Bearcats (4-5).
The freshman also had four points, and posted career-highs in both rebounds (seven) and steals (five), Saturday in a 81-64 win against University of Cincinnati-Clermont.
Scott Schwieterman
Jay County – 2013
Came off the bench to lead the Warriors in rebounds Wednesday in the Indiana Tech men’s basketball team’s 78-48 blowout of Lourdes.
Schwieterman grabbed 11 defensive rebounds and had 13 total, three times more than any other Indiana Tech player. He also shot 4-of-6 for eight points, dished out two assists, blocked a shot and came up with a steal.
He had four points, two rebounds and a steal Sunday in a 67-64 loss to Rochester.
Kylie Kahlig
FRHS – 2012
Played for the University of Northwestern Ohio women’s basketball team Wednesday in its 74-47 win over Michigan-Dearborn.
Kahlig hit a 3-pointer and a free throw to finish with four points. She also had one assist.
