Tankers beat Indians

ANDERSON — The Patriot girls continued to roll.
The boys got their first win of the season.
Jay County High School’s boys and girls swim teams both beat the Anderson Indians on Thursday.
The girls won 10 events on their way to a 116-67 victory, and the boys won 105-80.
Anne Vormohr, Alex Bader and Sophie Bader were all dual winners for the Patriot girls (3-0). Vormohr won both the 200-yard freestyle and 100 backstroke. Alex Bader won the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, and Sophie Bader earned victories in the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke.
Heather Stinson took first in diving, beating three of her teammates.
Jay County’s girls squad also won all three relays.
Connor Daniels and Sok Vormohr both won two races for the JCHS boys (1-1). Daniels claimed wins in the 100 and 200 freestyle, and Vormohr was first in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Christian Phillips was the top diver.
The Patriot boys also won the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays.  

SA tops Celina
BERNE — South Adams’ boys and girls swim teams both beat the Celina Bulldogs on Thursday.
The Starfire girls won seven events on the way to a 104-76 victory. The boys topped the Bulldogs 100-84.
Ashton Klopp, Brette Klopp and Ashley LeFever won two events apiece. Ashton was first in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100 butterfly. Brette Klopp earned victories in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke, and LeFever won the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle.
Daniel Burson, Zach Teeple and David Steffen combined for all six Starfire boys wins. Burson won the 200 and 500 freestyle, Teeple earned victories in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke and Steffen claimed first place in the 500 freestyle and 100 butterfly.

In’t Groen, Stars win
BERNE — Cindy In’t Groen set a new single-game scoring mark Thursday as the South Adams girls basketball team blasted the Muncie Burris Owls, 69-25.
In’t Groen had already set a career-high with 30 points Nov. 14, but she upped it by five points to break the Starfires’ record for points in a game with 35. She made 15 field goals, one of which was from long distance. She was also 4-of-5 from the free-throw line.
Lexi Dellinger was the only other South Adams player to reach double figures with 10 points. Madi Wurster and Sydney Pierce both had eight points.

Chiefs 7th wins
WOODBURN — Landon Grimes and Brody Auker both reached double figures Thursday to help the East Jay Middle School seventh grade boys basketball team to a 40-6 victory against Woodlan.
The EJMS eighth graders lost 36-25.
Grimes and Auker scored 10 points apiece for the seventh graders (2-2, 2-0 Allen County Athletic Conference) Nicholas Fields and Bailey Cox followed with five and four points apiece.
Ryan VanCise, Clark Muhlenkamp, Blake Caldwell, Brian Zhang and Drake Imel had two points each.
Sheldon Upp led the eighth graders with eight points, and Gabe Link tallied six. Gavin Lambert contributed four points and Alex McFarland had three. The Chiefs fell to 1-3 (1-1).

EJ girls split
East Jay’s seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams split with the Woodlan Warriors on Thursday.
The Chief seventh graders won 26-10, and the eighth graders lost 28-16.
Alana Kunkler and Pacie Denney led the seventh graders with nine points and six points respectively.
Natalie Miles contributed three points, with Grace Saxman, Aubrie Schwieterman, Anna Heath and Victoria Kunk adding two points apiece.
Hannah James led the eighth graders with four points. Shadie Canterbury and Anhely Montes both tallied three.
Emma James, Mikele Suman and Macey Weitzel recorded two points each.
