MUNCIE — Jay County High School’s girls swim team moved to 5-1 Tuesday with a 100-86 victory against the Delta Eagles.
The Patriot boys lost, 134-51.
Anne Vormohr, Sophie Bader and Alex Bader were all dual winners for the JCHS?girls. Vormohr won both the 100- and 200-yard freestyle races. Sophie Bader took first in the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke while her younger sister Alex won the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.
The trio joined Ashley Mark, who also won the 100 butterfly, for victories in both the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.
One day after joining the 200-point club, Heather Stinson scored 204.85 points for a new career-best to win diving.
Christian Phillips was the lone victor for the Patriot boys, scoring 156.1 points to beat Delta’s Nick Groover in diving.
Arabians beat JC
PENDLETON — Six Jay County wrestlers earned victories Tuesday as the Patriots fell 35-30 to the Pendleton Heights Arabians.
It was the first loss of the season for Jay County (7-1)?in dual meets.
Thomas Hemmelgarn defeated Caleb Gibson 5-4 in an ultimate tiebreaker during their 145-pound match. Tyler Leonhard also won by a decision, outlasting Alex Johnson to win 1-0.
Ivan Hemmelgarn (160), Daniel Ostrowski (170), Levi Hummel (182)?and fourth-ranked Andy Kohler (195)?all won by second-period pins.
Bruns, Cox lead FR
FORT RECOVERY — Chase?Bruns and Micaiah Cox both reached double figures Tuesday as the Fort Recovery boys basketball team defeated the?Arcanum Trojan, 54-44.
The Indians (2-0), who host state-line rival Jay County on Saturday, led the Trojans at the end of every quarter. They had a 13-9 advantage after the first eight minutes, and pushed the lead to 24-17 heading into halftime.
Bruns tallied 15 points and Cox followed with 14 points for the Indians. Matt Bihn totaled seven points and Darien Sheffer had six to go with his game-high 10 rebounds.
Fort Recovery’s junior varsity squad also won, 57-41.
Cade Wendel poured in a game-high 16 points, and Payton Jutte followed with a dozen points.
Stars win in OT
LYNN — South Adams’ girls basketball team hung on for a 40-37 overtime victory Tuesday to remain perfect.
The Starfires move to 11-0 on the season, and host Allen County Athletic Conference foe Jay County at noon on Saturday.
Lexi Dellinger led all players with 16 points, and Cindy In’t Groen wasn’t too far behind with 13 points. Madi Wurster scored seven points.
Tribe 8th wins big
FORT RECOVERY — Val Muhlenkamp and Brooke Kahlig both scored in double figures Tuesday as the Fort Recovery Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team blasted the New Bremen Cardinals, 53-6.
The Tribe seventh graders outlasted the Cardinals for a 28-24 overtime win.
Muhlenkamp tallied 13 points and Kahlig added eight for the FRMS eighth graders (5-1). Harlie Dues followed with seven points.
Hope Wendel poured in 13 points and grabbed the same number of rebounds for the seventh grade Indians (6-0).
