FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery High School’s boys and girls freshman basketball teams lost to the Minster Wildcats on Monday.
The Tribe girls fell 37-35, and the boys lost 44-34.
Kiah Wendel poured in 16 points in a losing effort for the girls, with Chloe Metzger adding eight points. Kelsey Jutte and Claire Metzger tallied four and three points respectively, and Briget Pottkotter and Kristen Keller had two points apiece.
For the Tribe boys, Evan Post totaled 11 points, and Will Homan and Ethan Schoen had seven points each.
Clint Metzger followed with six points, Eddie Siefring had two points and Trevor Vaughn added one.

EJMS trounces Northside
Two days after winning the Allen County Athletic Conference tournament, the East Jay eighth grade girls basketball team continued its winning ways with a 45-10 trouncing of the Muncie Northside Titans.
The seventh grade Chiefs also won, rallying for a 25-24 victory.
Gwen Omstead and Hanna Dillon scored nine points each to pace the eighth graders, who kept the Titans off the scoreboard in the final period.
Klarisa Hemmelgarn tallied eight points, and Sammie Twigg chipped in with six points. Kendra Muhlenkamp and Hannah Phillips had four points apiece.
The seventh graders, led by Macey Weitzel’s 10 points, erased a 14-10 deficit at halftime to knot the score at 18 after three quarters.
Anhely Montes and Mikele Suman both had four points for East Jay, and Taylor May added three. Sarah Muhlenkamp and Hannah James had two points each.

Chiefs sweep Eagles
East Jay’s sixth grade boys basketball teams swept county rival West Jay on Monday.

The Chiefs’ A team won 27-19, and the B team defeated West Jay 33-26.
Landon Grimes and Griffin Mann shared the team high for the East Jay A team with seven points each. Bailey Cox and Brody Auker both scored six points.
West Jay’s Josh Crouch had a game-high nine points, and Drew Powers followed with four points. Frankie Crump, Jaron Alexander and Logan Brown all chipped in with two points each.
Brown paced the B team in the loss, pouring in 10 points. Lewis Crump added eight points, and Hunter Shumaker tallied five. Luke Haggard had three points.
Logan McGinnis, John Candelaria, Logan Ballard, Jesse Basham, Brian Zhang, Cameron Langenkamp and Andrew Brinkeroff scored for the Chiefs, but point totals were not available.

East Jay grapplers win
PARKER CITY — East Jay Middle School’s wrestling team moved to 5-0 in dual meets with a 60-52 victory Monday against the Monroe Central Golden Bears.
Ian Liette (85-pound weight class), Dylan Racster (90), Mason Winner (130), Chandler Chapman (135) and Thomas Hemmelgarn (145) all earned wins for the Chiefs.
Also winning for East Jay were Dawson Frasher (152), Daniel Ostrowski (175), Lucas Schmit (200), Cooper Jacks (225) and Bailey Ludy (HWT).
Hunter Mills, Kevin Myers, Braden McIntire and Derrick Allen all won their respective matches in reserve action.

Tribe rallies past Celina
CELINA, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s eighth grade girls basketball team rallied to a 17-16 victory Monday over the Celina Bulldogs.
Trailing 12-8 after three quarters, the Tribe more than doubled its point total, outscoring the Bulldogs 9-4 in the final frame to get the win.
Brooke Gaerke and Elise Gehle both had five points, including a 3-pointer by Gaerke in the final quarter. Madi Rammel, Audrey Guggenbiller and Chloe Showalter all scored two points, with Gugginbiller and Showalter notching their buckets in the decisive fourth quarter.
