Patriot boys dominate in season finale

The Patriots ended their season on a high note Tuesday.
Jay County High School’s boys swim team defeated visiting Allen County Athletic Conference rival Adams Central 185-102 in the final dual meet of the year.
Cody White and Sok Vormohr both won a pair of individual events for the Patriots (12-4), who lost only one race on the evening.
White took first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2 minutes, 16.77 seconds, and also won the 100 breaststroke (1:11.12). Vormohr was victorious in both the 100 butterfly (1:00.2) and 500 freestyle (5:39.52).
Christopher McDowell finished first in the 200 freestyle (2.09.51), James Keen won the 50 freestyle (23.79 seconds) and Conner Daniels touched the wall in 55.31 seconds to take the 100 freestyle.
The Patriots also won all three relays.
Christian Phillips joined the 200-point club, scoring a career-high 205.85 as he went uncontested in diving.

SA?falls to Eastbrook
BERNE — The Starfires fell behind early and couldn’t catch up down the stretch in a 49-36 loss to the Eastbrook Panthers.
Eastbrook (19-2), which was 14th in the most recent Class 3A Associated Press poll voting, jumped out to a 17-8 lead after the first quarter and had a 28-13 advantage at halftime.
South Adams (12-9) fought back in the final 16 minutes, but its first half deficit was insurmountable.
Sydney Willis had a team-high 18 points for the Starfires, who had their three-game winning streak snapped. Cindy In’t Groen followed with seven points, and Mackenzie Jennings added four points.

Eastbrook’s Brooke Saylor led all players with 25 points.

Jutte leads FR boys
UNION CITY, Ohio — Payton Jutte paced the Fort Recovery Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team in a 45-33 road victory against the Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks.
The Tribe seventh graders lost, 36-34.
Jutte poured in a team-high 18 points for the Indians, who also got nine points from Derek Siefring and eight points from Clayton Pearson.
For the Fort Recovery seventh graders, Grant Knapke tallied 18 points, and Jared Timmerman totaled seven.

Tribe falls to Minster
FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery Middle School girls basketball teams dropped a pair of games to the Minster Wildcats on Tuesday.
The Tribe eighth graders lost 20-18 in overtime, and the seventh graders fell 32-15.
Valerie Muhlenkamp led the eighth graders with seven points, and Brook Kahlig tallied six. Olivia Patch and Macy Day had two points each.
Aleigha Jenkins paced the seventh graders with a team-high eight points.
