’Skins rally to top FRHS

ST. HENRY, Ohio — The Tribe boys basketball team had a three-point lead against St. Henry with 30 seconds remaining Friday night.
Evan Prenger hit a 3-pointer to tie the game, and after a miss by Darien Sheffer at the other end of the court the Indians sent the game’s leading scorer to the free-throw line.
Ryan Mikesell hit the front end of a one-and-one to give St. Henry a come-from-behind, 54-53 victory against its Midwest Athletic Conference rival.
Fort Recovery (6-14, 2-6 MAC) led 14-13 after eight minutes, but trailed at halftime 27-25. Both teams scored a dozen points in the third quarter as St. Henry (18-2, 8-0 MAC) held on to its two-point lead.
The Indians scored seven straight points to open the fourth quarter and take a 44-39 lead, and it had a five-point advantage again with 1:20 to play but could not fend off the Redskins in the final 80 seconds.
Micaiah Cox paced the Indians with 14 points. Kyle Schroer, Caleb Martin and Chase Bruns each scored 10 points apiece, and Martin nabbed a team-high seven boards.
Mikesell finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Prenger chipped in with 14 points.
Fort Recovery’s junior varsity team also fell, 53-44.
Jackson Hobbs turned in a team-high 15 points for the Indians, who also got a dozen points form Cade Wendel. Jason Roessner tallied eight points.
