Saturday vs. Fort Recovery: Jay County used an 11-point run in the fourth quarter to take late lead against Fort Recovery and held on for a 32-30 win against its state-line rivals. The Patriots went 15-of-17 from the free-throw line, including 8 for 10 in the fourth quarter. Adam Dirksen led all players with 15 points and Jay Houck followed with six.
Season leaders (per game): Points — Adam Dirksen 14.2, Jay Houck 10.2, Justin Dirksen 7.6. Rebounds — Adam Dirksen 5.9, Jay Houck 4.7. Assists — Zach Pryor 3.8.

Dec. 27 at Bellmont: Adams Central picked up its first road win at Bellmont in four decades — just the ninth win in the 51-game series — in a 56-48 defeat of the Braves. Luke Voirol scored a game-high 17 points and Derek Fox followed with 15.
Season leaders (per game): Points — Luke Voirol 12, David Fox 11, Jonah Tijerina 6, Blake Bauman 5. Rebounds — Voirol 5, Drew Schultz 5.
Last meeting: In Jan. 1979, Mark McEwen and the Patriots were too much for the host Jets in a 78-53 victory. McEwen poured in 30 points and Chris Snow chipped in with 12 points in the victory, which at the time evened the Patriots’ all-time record to 41-41.
Game notes: This is the first meeting in 36 years — and first as conference opponents —?for Jay County and Adams Central. The Patriots have won all four games in the series ... Jay County leads the state in defensive average, surrendering 34.4 points per game, nearly a full two points ahead of Class 1A South Newton ... This could be a preview of a potential semifinal matchup in the ACAC?tournament next week. Jay County opens the mid-season tournament Tuesday at Southern Wells while Adams Central plays host to Bluffton. The winners will meet in the semifinals on Wednesday ... Adams Central has won 13 games in each of the last three years, including a 19-win 2011-12 season in which the Jets won the program’s sixth sectional title and first in Class 2A.
