Chief girls defeat WJMS
EJMS/WJMS girls basketball
East Jay Middle School’s seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams both defeated county rival West Jay on Wednesday.
The eighth grade Chiefs won 33-9, and the seventh graders defeated the Eagles 16-7.
Hanna Dillon and Kendra Muhlenkamp paced the EJMS eighth graders with six points each.
Klarissa Hemmelgarn, Gwen Omstead and Hannah Phillips all added four points, and Kailee Denney had three points.
Kendal Garringer tallied three points for West Jay, and Rhegan Shimp, Kensey Litton and Calli Crosby each chipped in with two points.
For the East Jay seventh graders, Mikele Suman totaled a game-high eight points, and Macey Weitzel added four.
Mackynzie Fairchild and Shadie Canterbury both had two points.
Delaynie Bennett, Kymia Hankins and Hallie Fields had two points each for West Jay.
East Jay’s eighth graders move to 10-1 (5-0 Allen County Athletic Conference)?on the season, and the seventh graders improved to 2-9 (2-3 ACAC). West?Jay’s eighth graders fall to 3-5.
