East Jay girls still perfect in ACAC play

East Jay’s eighth grade girls basketball team moved to 6-0 in the ACAC with a 46-11 clubbing of the Heritage Patriots on Thursday.
The seventh grade Chiefs lost, 21-14.
Hanna Dillon and Gwen Omstead paced the Chiefs with 14 and 10 points respectively. Kendra Muhlenkamp and Klarissa Hemmelgarn added eight points apiece, and Hannah Phillips chipped in with four points.
Sarah Muhlenkamp and Macey Weitzel both had four points to lead the seventh grade Chiefs. Mikele Suman followed with three points, and Anhely Montes and Taylor May each tallied two points.
East Jay’s eighth graders are 11-1 on the season, while the seventh graders fell to 2-10 (2-4 ACAC)

Chiefs thump Patriots
MONROEVILLE — East Jay Middle School’s seventh and eighth grade boys basketball teams both rolled to Allen County Athletic Conference victories against the host Heritage Patriots on Thursday.
The EJMS eighth graders (9-2, 5-1 ACAC) thumped the Patriots, 38-20, and the seventh graders won in a rout, 34-17.
Michael Schlechty poured in 11 points and his twin brother Ryan added 10 for the eighth grade Chiefs. Parker Grimes chipped in with six points, Gavin Randall tallied four, and Korbin Auker and Isaac Moeller each had three.
Gabe Link put on an offensive show for the seventh grade Chiefs (5-6, 4-2 ACAC), totaling in 19 points. Noah Arbuckle followed with nine points, and Ethan Corwin, Brayden Sprunger and Cameron Henry each added two.

Eagles top Starfires
DUNKIRK — The West Jay eighth grade girls basketball team earned its first ACAC victory of the season Thursday in a 31-16 defeat of South Adams.
The Starfire seventh graders won, 26-20.
Rhegan Shimp paced the eighth grade Eagles (4-5, 1-3 ACAC) with 14 points to go with her seven rebounds. Dawn Minnick tallied six points, Calli Crosby had four and Kendal Garringer added four. Garringer also hauled in 14 rebounds.
Asilyn Davis led the WJMS seventh graders with nine points. Alison Jobe added four points, and Hallie Fields and Delaynie Bennett had three points apiece.

WJ boys fall
MARION — West Jay’s seventh and eighth grade boys basketball teams traveled to Marion on Thursday and came away on the losing end against Eastbrook.
The eighth grade eagles lost 40-18, and the seventh graders fell 39-29.
Gabe Faulkner poured in 14 points for the seventh grade Eagles, who got five points each from Wyatt Geesaman, Nick Raines and Noah Harris.
Trevon Vore paced the eighth graders with six points, and Evan Lowe added four. Storm McLaughlin and Dylan Bowler had three points apiece, and Peyton Nichols and Brinnin Wasson each added one.
