The Jay County High School gymnastics team cruised to victory in its season opener Thursday, defeating the visiting Heritage Patriots 102.95-94.225.
Malarie Houck picked up the lone win of the night for the Patriots, taking the balance beam with an 8.9. The senior was just 0.05 points off of her career-best score.
Houck tied for second with sophomore teammate Lizzy Schoenlein on the vault, and Schoenlein was also the runner-up on the uneven bars and floor exercise.
Rachael Anderson took the top spot for Heritage on the vault, bars and floor.
