East Jay boys are co-champs

The East Jay Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team finished as co-champions in the Allen County Athletic Conference with its 30-27 victory over visiting South Adams on Thursday.
The seventh graders Chiefs lost to South Adams, 36-33.
Korbin Auker led the EMJS eighth graders (12-2, 6-1 ACAC) with nine points, and Elijah Corwin tallied six. Michael Schlecthy added five points, and Gavin Randall and Ryan Schlecthy each netted three points.
For the seventh grade Chiefs (6-8, 4-3 ACAC), Gabe Link and Noah Arbuckle scored 12 and 10 points respectively. Brayden Sprunger added five points and Cameron Henry had four.
EJMS girls rout SA
BERNE — East Jay’s eighth grade girls basketball team remained perfect in the ACAC with a 46-11 rout of host South Adams on Thursday.
The Starfire seventh grade squad defeated East Jay 30-25 in overtime.
Hanna Dillon and Gwen Omstead both totaled a dozen points for the EJMS eighth graders, who move to 12-1 (7-0 ACAC) with the win. Klarissa Hemmelgarn and Kendra Muhlenkamp followed with seven and six points respectively, and Sammie Twigg and Kailee Denney each added four points.
Macey Weitzel paced the EJ seventh graders (2-11, 2-5 ACAC) with 10 points, and Sara Muhlenkamp chipped in with nine points.
Shadie Canterbury, Emma James and Taylor May all had two points.
South Adams stats were not available.

Eagles edge Bears
PARKER CITY — Gabe Faulkner and Noah Harris both reached double figures Thursday as the West Jay eighth grade boys basketball team edged the host Monroe Central Golden Bears, 36-32.
The seventh grade Eagles lost, 40-12.
Faulkner poured in 15 points and Noah Harris tallied 11 points to go with his team-high 11 rebounds. Wyatt Geesaman totaled eight points and grabbed nine rebounds, and Nick Raines chipped in with two points.
Brinnin Wasson and Trevon Vore led the Eagle seventh graders with five points apiece.
