Minnich, Nickson lead Loy's

Matthew Minnich and Nicholas Nickson combined for eight hits Thursday as Loy’s Realty defeated Local 1620 by a score of 17-8 in Portland Junior League’s Sandy Koufax tournament.
Nickson and Minnich both had four hits to pace Loy’s. Jordan Schricker was a single shy of the cycle, including a home run in the second inning. He also had a pair of walks.
Nate Dalrymple also had three singles, with Bailey Cox adding two and Juan Pablo Wiggins registering one hit.
Travis Reffitt and Logan Ballard both had three hits in the losing effort for Local 1620. Rylee Huftel, Laey Canterbury, Ian Butcher and Logan McGinnis each tallied one hit.

Ponderosa wins
Ponderosa Steakhouse continued its winning ways Thursday with an 8-5 victory against Pak-A-Sak in PJL’s Rookie baseball tournament.
Isaac Roop led the Ponderosa offense with a pair of singles and a double, and AJ Myers and Griffin Byrum each had a double and a single.
Gavin Byrum chipped in with two singles, and Nick Snow, Hunter Lawhead and Gavin Tow each recorded a single.
Isaac Dues and Mason Johnson had three singles apiece for Pak-A-Sak, and Alex Miller recorded two hits. Freddie Lingo and Carter Barton each tallied one hit.

Streak hits five games
Pioneer Packaging won its fifth straight game Thursday, defeating Barnett’s Auto Parts 11-9 in the Rookie baseball tournament.
Rhysin Blowers paced Pioneer with a home run and a double, and Landon Blowers added two single and a triple.
Maddox Huffman and Dominick Bright both doubled and singled, with Jayden Comer chipping in with a pair of base hits.
Jasper Hartzell and Landon Garringer had three singles apiece for Barnett’s.
Lucas Strait, Sylas Wenk and Cavan Hartzell recorded two singles each, and Skyler Esparza added a double and a single.
