Laux, Dues break records

MARION — Emma Laux and Britlyn Dues started the 2015 track season in record-breaking fashion.
Laux and Dues set new indoor school records during Saturday’s Hoosier State Qualifier at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Laux finished with a time of 8.65 seconds in the 60-meter dash to place 16th. Dues was 11th in the 60 hurdles with a time of 10.8 seconds.
Lexi Myers, Briana Muhlenkamp, Taylor Homan and Dues teamed to place fourth in the 4x400 relay in 4 minutes, 30 seconds. The distance medley relay of Megan Wellman, Erika Kunkler, Ava Kunkler and Kellie Fortkamp finished fifth in 13:59.
Courtney Cox, Lucy Laux, Emma Laux and Myers placed 13th in the 4x200 relay in 2:01, and the 4x800 relay team of Erika Kunkler, Ashley Alig, Audrey Shreve and Gabby Kunkler finished in 12:03 for 16th.
Rebekah Corwin placed 11th in the shot put with a distance of 30 feet, seven inches. Lucy Laux was 14th in the long jump with a distance of 14 feet, 9 inches.

MONROE — The West Jay Middle School wrestling team finished in 11th place Saturday at the Adams Central Invitational.
Andrew Toney was 3-1 on the day to place second in the 150-pound weight class.
Nathaniel Lykins went 2-1 to place third, and Johnathan Pierce (117) was 1-1.

Revolution fall to 1-1
SOUTH BEND — The Portland Revolution semi-professional basketball team fell to 1-1 on the season with a 115-91 loss Sunday to the South Bend Monarchs.
Malik Perry tallied a triple-double in the loss, totaling 10 points, 14 assists and 24 rebounds. Jay County High School graduates Dustin Overton and Mitch Waters contributed 13 and seven points respectively. Waters added eight rebounds and five assists, and Overton had six rebounds and five assists.
The Revolution host the Fort Wayne Vision at 5 p.m. March 21st at Jay Community Center.
