Wolves make state

UPLAND — The Jay County Wolves Special Olympics basketball team has qualified for state.
The Wolves, who compete in a 3-on-3 division, finished in first place on?Saturday during the sectional tournament held at Taylor University.
With their sectional crown, the Wolves advance to the state meet Saturday and Sunday at Indiana State University.
Jay County teams also competing at sectional were the Cavaliers, Panthers and Bobcats.
The Panthers, a 5-on-5 team who earned a bronze medal at the USA?Games in June, finished in second place on Saturday. The Panthers had won the sectional championship the previous two years.
The Cavaliers were also runner-up in their 3-on-3 division, and the Bobcats 5-on-5 team placed third.
Portland falls
The Portland Revolution fell to 0-2 in their inaugural season Saturday with a 128-108 loss to the Fort Wayne Vision.
Ball State graduate Jared Drake led the Revolution with 34 points, including an 8-for-11 effort from behind the 3-point line.
Jay County graduates Dustin Overton and Mitch Waters chipped in with seven and five points respectively. Overton also tallied six rebounds, while Waters notched seven assists.
Portland hosts the Indiana Dream at 7 p.m. Saturday at Jay Community Center.
