SAHS tames Panthers, 13-1
BERNE — The Starfire offense put on a show Wednesday.
Jayden Dull, Kenny Amtsutz and Skylar Schoch combined for seven RBIs in a 13-1 rout of the visiting Eastbrook Panthers in five innings.
Schoch hit a bases-clearing triple in the first inning as the Starfires (12-12) exploded for nine runs in the frame. Dull drove in two runs on a double, Justin Nussbaum added an RBI single and Kyle Cox and Amstutz each drove in runs on sacrifice fly balls.
South Adams scored a run in the second before Eastbrook finally pushed a runner across home plate in the top of the third. Leading 10-1, the Starfires plated one another run in the third and two more in the fourth to even their record.
Derek Wanner and Schoch had two hits apiece to lead South Adams. Chandler Ingle and Corbin Blomeke each added singles for the Starfires, who combined to walk five times.
Ingle earned the win on the mound, giving up one earned run — a solo shot to Kody Graves — on two hits. He struck out three and walked one in three innings.
Myers leads in win
AJ Myers was a single shy of the cycle and hit two inside-the-park home runs Tuesday, helping Ponderosa Steakhouse to a 13-5 victory Tuesday against Pak-A-Sak in Portland Junior League Rookie baseball action.
Like Myers, Griffin Byrum was one hit shy of the cycle, needing only a triple to complete the feat. Hunter Lawhead added two singles and an inside-the-park home run.
Isaac Dues led the Pak-A-Sak offense with a single and a double, with Alex Miller recording a pair of singles. Austin Jellison, Eli Stockton and Layne Reidt all added hits as well.
Loy’s tops SA
Despite being out-hit 10-6, Loy’s Realty defeated South Adams 8-4 Wednesday in PJL’s Sandy Koufax division.
Nate Dalrymple paced Loy’s with three hits. Matthew Minnich, Jordan Schricker and Juan Pablo Wiggins each added one hit.
Grady Sprunger led South Adams with a pair of singles.
