The Indians finished off the best regular season in program history on Friday.
Wednesday, the Midwest athletic Conference honored 13 of those players.
Fort Recovery High School’s football team had two first team all-conference players and four others make second team.
Defensive lineman Adam LeFevre and Andrew Stocker were both named to the first team. The pair has been a critical part in the Indians allowing a program-best 10 points per game.
LeFevre is fifth on the team with 45 tackles and second with 12.5 tackles for loss. He leads the team with 8.5 sacks, and needs a half sack to tie the school’s season record. Stocker’s 69 tackles are second on the squad, but his 17 stops in the backfield lead the Indians. He is close on LeFevre’s tail with seven sacks.
Wes Wenning (wide receiver), Kyle Knapke (tackle) and Kyle Schroer (running back) were named to the second-team offense. Wenning has 49 catches for 688 yards and four touchdowns, while Schroer was 856 yards and 14 touchdowns on 155 carries. Schroer is three scores away from matching Cole Hull’s single season rushing touchdown record.
Brandon “Speedy” Schoen was the lone Tribe representative on the second team defense. The senior corner has 40 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, one sack and a team-high five interceptions. Schoen needs two more picks to tie the single-season record of seven, set by current assistant coach Toby Metzger.
Earning honorable mention were Tyler Acheson, Ross Homan, Chris Link, Caleb Martin, Nate Ontrop, Jason Roessner and Darien Sheffer.
Fort Recovery (8-2) opens the Division VII Region 26 tournament Friday at home against Miami Valley Christian. For a preview of the game, see Review preview on page 11.
