MONROE — The Patriots’ dominance over conference opponents continues.
Jay County High School’s girls swim team won all 11 swimming events Monday in a 125-44 thrashing of host Adams Central in its dual meet and Allen County Athletic Conference opener.
Anne Vormohr, Ashley Mark, Alex Bader and Sophie Bader each earned a pair of individual wins to help the Patriots’ cause.
Vormohr was victorious in the freestyle distance races, winning the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes, 6.72 seconds. She had a time of 5:43.31 to win the 500 freestyle. Mark earned the top spot in both the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke in 2:38.11 and 1:17.34 respectively.
Alex Bader beat the field in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.93 seconds, and cruised to a win in the 100 butterfly in 1:07.05. Her older sister Sophie earned victories in both the 100 freestyle (57.94 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (1:18.59).
Jamie Valentine, the Baders and Mark teamed to win the 200 medley relay in 2:05.32, and Sophie joined Abby Saxman, Elizabeth McDowell and Vormohr for a victory in the 200 freestyle in 1:51.84.
The 400 freestyle relay team of Alex Bader, McDowell, Mark and Vormohr won in 4:13.93.
Lou Moser, Heather Stinson and Samantha Link were second, third and fourth respectively in diving.

EJ 7th wins
An 11-point fourth quarter gave the East Jay Middle School seventh grade girls basketball team a 22-13 victory Monday against Union City.
The eighth grade Chiefs lost, 53-34.

East Jay’s seventh graders had a 9-4 lead at halftime, but a surge by Union City in the third quarter made it a one-point game, 11-10, heading into the final quarter.
Natalie Miles led the seventh graders with six points, and Grace Saxman followed with five. Madison Fouch tallied four points, with Pacie Denney, Alana Kunkler and Anna Heath scoring two points apiece.
Macey Weitzel paced the eighth graders with 16 points, and Taylor May joined her in double figure with 10 points. Emma James tallied three points, and Asilyn Davis and Sara Muhlenkamp each had two points.

Stuber shines
PONETO — Nic Stuber scored 17 points for the South Adams eighth grade boys basketball team in a 36-30 loss to Southern Wells.
Stuber scored six points each in the first and fourth quarters, but his efforts were not enough to push the Starfires (1-1, 0-1 Allen County Athletic Confernece) to its second win of the season.
Colin Shaffer hit four free throws down the stretch to finish with nine points. Luke Yoder and Curtis Sprunger had two points apiece.

Bruins top WJ
HARTFORD CITY — The West Jay eighth grade boys basketball team lost 50-30 Monday to the Blackford Bruins.
Trevan Vore and Dylan Bowler led the offensive effort for the Eagles, scoring eight points each. Brinnin Wasson and Peyton Nichols followed with seven points apiece.
