Fort Recovery looking for first conference win

FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery High School’s volleyball team remains winless in the conference after Thursday’s three-set loss to the Minster Wildcats.
Fort Recovery (8-10, 0-5 Midwest Athletic Conference) fell 25-14, 25-11, 25-17.
Carley Stone led the Indians with eight kills and 13 digs. Kendra Siefring tallied four kills and two blocks to go with her six digs.
Madi Rammel tallied 11 assists, and Kirsten Jutte had nine assists and six kills.
Hannah Knapke led the FRHS junior varsity squad in a 25-17, 25-18 victory. Knapke had four kills, nine digs and a pair of aces.
Carley Link and Grace Thien each had three kills. Kiah Wendel recorded a dozen digs, and Thien added 11. Jill Roessner and Audra Metzger had eight and seven assists respectively.

SA falls to Jets
BERNE — South Adams’ volleyball team wasn’t able to ride the momentum of a third-set win Thursday in a 3-1 loss to the Adams Central Jets.
South Adams (15-7, 4-2 Allen County Athletic Conference) lost the first set 25-14 and battled to a 28-26 loss in the second. South Adams won the third set 25-18, but dropped the fourth 25-17.
Addie Wanner and Kylie Grabau led the Starfires with 11 and 10 kills respectively.
Madi Wurster tallied seven kills and two blocks, while Cindy In’t Groen contributed six kills and nine digs.
Morgan Alberson had five each in kills and digs,, and Julia Grabau totaled 33 assists and 14 digs.
South Adams’ junior varsity team won 25-24, 25-19.
Jade Farlow led the offense with five kills. She also had three blocks defensively.
Shaelynn Bowman tallied four kills, Sydney Pierce had three and Kayla LeFever tallied two. Shania Neal recorded a dozen digs.

East Jay 7th wins
The East Jay Middle School seventh grade volleyball team defeated the Heritage Patriots 25-10, 25-13 on Thursday at Jay County High School.
Natalie Miles and Alana Kunkler led the Chiefs (9-5) with five and three kills respectively. Pacie Denney, Zoey Elzey, Abby Hue and Kearsten Myers each had one kill.
Kunkler led the defense with four digs, and Denney added two. Kunkler also had a team-high 12 aces. Denney tallied six aces and three assists.

Eagles, Tigers split
West Jay’s seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams split with the Bluffton Tigers on Thursday at JCHS.
The WJMS eighth graders won 25-24, 25-23, and the seventh graders lost 25-22, 20-25, 15-13.
Kymia Hankins had three aces on her way to a team-high 12 service points for the eighth graders. Trinity Current and Calli Stigleman both had three kills. Hallie Fields, who led the team with five kills, had two points. Stigleman also recorded two kills.
Jayden Price racked up 15 points to lead the seventh grade Eagles. Chloe Campbell and Demi Grove followed with five and four points respectively. Abbi Kuss also had four points.

 EJ sweeps Baskett
East Jay’s sixth grade volleyball teams earned wins against R.J. Baskett on Thursday at JCHS.
The Chiefs’ A team won 25-24, 16-25, 15-14, and the B squad picked up a 25-22, 14-25, 15-12 victory.
Kyanne Anderson and Ralyn Chaffins led the A squad with three kills apiece. Madison Dirksen and Anderson tallied four aces apiece on their way to six and seven service points respectively. Jayden Claytor led the Chiefs with eight points.
Makaya Champ totaled 12 aces on her way to 14 service points for the B squad. Madison Jetmore had four points, all of which were aces.

Eagles top Chiefs
West Jay’s sixth grade volleyball team defeated East Jay’s B squad 25-23, 24-25, 15-10 on Thursday at JCHS.
Isabel Rodgers led West Jay with 18 service points, including a nine-point effort in the first set. She finished with 14 total aces. Kaden Norris and Kayla Harrington both tallied four points and two aces.
Madison Jetmore paced East Jay with 10 points, including eight aces. Makaya Champ followed with eight points and four aces, and Kristen Wendel tallied all four of her points on aces. Tricia Ison also notched four aces.
